Overhead Suspended Conveyor System
DETAILS:
This was an overhead conveyor system suspended from the ceiling. Both lines take parts from the initial casting area and transfer them over the CNC machines to a pair of elevators which then lowers the parts for access by a robotic arm that will load them into the CNC machines for final machining.
The system is comprised of 4 - 90° curves, 2 - 8' long MTR's, and 15 - 10' long powered roller conveyors. An individual motor powers each conveyor. Each conveyor has a photo eye that detects the part location. All electronics communicate within the existing system to provide autonomous transfer of parts. The mechanical installation portion of this project was completed in 6 days with 3 team members.

Confined and restricted areas.
Working overhead millions of dollars worth of machinery
Working near high voltage bus bar that power equipment.
Maintaining safety standards while developing custom lifting strategies to get equipment into position.
Working in high-traffic areas and maintaining constant communication with the facility to coordinate work.
